Joel Fay

Joel joined Cambridge Financial Advisors in 2021 following over 20 years with General Electric, primarily as an executive in the Lighting division leading global manufacturing and supply chain teams. Joel’s approach to success revolved around people, processes, and products. Learning how to nurture, develop, and improve each of these, as well as understand the financial levers involved, were the constants throughout his career. Joel developed strong skill sets in business, finance, and modeling as he managed these diverse operations. His final and most difficult act with GE Lighting was to dismantle and decommission a 100-year-old supply chain, made obsolete by the rapid ascent of LED technology. While the task was emotionally draining, Joel took great pride in getting so many people, who had become family, to their early pension finish lines with GE, all while being safe and taking care of the customer.

Before GE, Joel was a Nuclear Submarine Warfare Officer with the US Navy. In his five years active, he had the unique experience of serving on two classes of submarines on both coasts, qualifying on two different nuclear reactors and serving both the tactical and strategic missions of the submarine fleet.  Joel received his BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and was grateful to do so on a Navy ROTC scholarship. His scholarship, combined with working part-time allowed him to graduate debt-free and start his first IRA at 23 – one of his most valuable financial lessons.

Joel lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Amberlee and their four children: Emma, Heidi , Jacob , and Anna . He loves running, biking, and being on the lake with his family. Joel has completed the licensing requirements for becoming an investment advisor and is a certified Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) through The American College of Financial Services.
